Calling Dr. Gill, Calling Dr. Gill

It's finally going to happen...Brendon's work is going to pay him to get his Ph.D.

After 2 years of waiting his patience (and mine) were starting to wear thin. Fonterra still hadn't approved the proposal etc. We had made the decision to wait until Christmas for them to make a decision and then if we had not heard we were going to start the paperwork for getting Brendon his green card and go to the USA.

I for one admit I was hoping it wouldn't go though because I've had enough of New Zealand and want to go home but I'm happy they are going to do this as it is a huge thing for Brendon's career. It means about $20,000 more a year when we do get to the USA. He says he can get it done in about 4 years so we'll see how he does.

The good thing is of course the career, but it's kind of awesome too that Fonterra will actually pay his fees for this at the university, give him 2 days a week to work on it, he works the other 3 days for Fonterra and they still pay him his normal full salary. So we don't lose out anywhere.

Brendon says that the kids have to call him Dr. Dad once he has earned his title. Caitlin didn't look too impressed, but then again that's a 12 year old for you. He's so excited that today he went out and bought us 2 new mobile phones. Since he's going to be at the university alot etc...we need to know where he is with the new baby on the way. ALSO! Get this...he's buying us another CAR! So I won't be stuck at home with all 3 kids.

So we have another 4 years in paradise and then I'm blowing this popsicle stand!
